Arriving at Allegheny as a heralded soccer prospect, Jill Michalski Gengras evolved into one of the top two-sport athletes in school history.

She left a big mark on both the soccer and lacrosse programs during a four-year career that spanned from 1991-95.  After serving as a two-year starter for head coach John Wilcher’s women’s soccer team, Jill was named the first captain in the history of the Gator lacrosse program when the sport was added in 1994.  That year, she burst onto the scene by scoring 32 goals and earning both All-Region and All-NCAC accolades.  Team captain again in 1995, she repeated her all-conference and all-region performance after exploding for 58 goals, which remained the team’s single-season record for 16 seasons.  Her senior year was highlighted by a nine-goal effort in an Apr. 2 victory over Alfred, which remains a team record for single-game goals.  She amassed 102 points in only two seasons on the lacrosse field, and remains one of just 12 players in team history to record both 90 goals and 100 points.

On the soccer field, she totaled 55 career points, on 23 goals and nine assists.  The Gators’ team leader with seven goals and 17 points in 1993, she was named an All-NCAC honoree in 1994 after placing fifth in the conference in both goals (9) and assists (6).

After graduating from Allegheny, she went on to earn a Masters from the University of Connecticut.  She currently resides in her hometown of West Hartford, Connecticut with her four children, Chase, Colby, Wells, and Penn, and she works as a school counselor at West Hartford’s Bristow Middle School.
