James Wheeler was a basketball standout for the Gators, receiving the Richard Yeckley Team Player Award (1977-80), the WMGW Coach’s Award (1978-79 and 1979-80) and the Maurice E. “Rink” Kofford Award (1979-80).  The team’s catalyst, Wheeler led the Gators in scoring for two years (1978-80), in assists for three seasons and is fourth on the College’s career-scoring list (1,282).
