NORMAN, Okla. -- The Allegheny College men's golf program received votes in the preseason edition of the Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll, as announced on Friday morning.
After placing 23rd at the 2024 NCAA Division III Championships in the spring, the Gators were one of 23 teams that also received votes outside the top 25. The only Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) team in the rankings, Allegheny earned five points, tied with Rhodes College and ahead of Berry College (Ga.) (3), Spalding University (2), Trinity College (Conn.) (2), York College (Pa.), and California Lutheran University (1).
Defending national champion Methodist University was first in the poll with 264 total points and six first-place votes. Carnegie Mellon University was second with three first-place votes and 259 points, followed by Emory University (250), Oglethorpe University (246), and Illinois Wesleyan University (227) in the top five.
The Gators, who won their first conference title in nearly two decades last season, were also
announced as the No. 1 team in the PAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Allegheny opens the 2024-25 campaign at Denison University's Ted Barclay Invitational on Saturday, August 31, and Sunday, September 1. The two-day event will be held at the Denison Golf Club in Granville, Ohio.
