Logan Lee, grabs of 74 and 86 yards. Though they are 22-7 all-time against Denison, the Gators will be searching for their first win over the Big Red since 2011.
After defeating #14 Wittenberg 24-21 last week, Denison took over the top spot in the North Coast Athletic Conference, and vaulted into the D3football.com Top 25 rankings at #24. Big Red quarterback Canaan Gebele threw for 375 yards and one touchdown, running back Cody Farley ran for a pair of scores, and Conor Dunn sealed the win with a 33-yard field goal with 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter. The Big Red have been solid on both sides of the ball throughout the first half of the season, as they are averaging 35 points and 475 yards of total offense, while the defense allows just 14 points and 282 yards per game.

Jon Nigro now ranks fifth all-time in program history with 346 career completions, sixth in career passing attempts (620), and eighth in career passing yards (3,399).
I'LL TAKE 'TOUCHDOWNS' FOR 200, ALEX
In last week's loss to DePauw, Allegheny freshman
Alex Victor hauled in seven passes for 219 yards, including touchdowns of 74 and 86 yards. It marked just the third 200-plus yard game for a Gator receiver in team history, while the 219 yards are the second most in a single game in program history, and most since Jay Lewis gained 254 in a 1969 meeting with Carnegie Mellon. Additionally, the 86-yard touchdown pass from
Logan Lee is the third-longest in program history. Victor enters play this week ranked second in the NCAC in both yards per catch (19.1) and touchdown receptions (6). The six touchdown catches are the most in a season for a Gator receiver since Matt Griffith snared seven in 2011.
RETURNING FOR MORE

Jake Wilson gained 202 yards on nine kick returns last week against DePauw, marking the third time this season in which he eclipsed the 200-yard mark, after gaining 223 against Thiel (9/3) and 209 at Wooster (9/10). His performance against DePauw also gave him the Allegheny single-season record with 853 kick return yards, eclipsing the previous mark of 685 set last season by
Tyler Balla. Wilson is averaging 25.1 yards on 34 returns this season, good for third in the North Coast Athletic Conference, while he leads the league with an average of 172.4 all-purpose yards per game.
AT A LOSS
In last week's game vs. DePauw, Allegheny sophomore
Marcus Davenport recorded a 10-yard sack, marking the sixth straight game in which the defensive end recorded at least one tackle for loss. A team co-captain, Davenport has totaled 8.0 TFLs for 37 yards on the season, ranking eighth in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Dating back to last season, Davenport has totaled 13.5 TFLs in the past 12 games.
YOUTH MOVEMENT
Through the first six games of the 2016 season, the Gators have received a wealth of production from its underclass group, particularly freshmen and sophomores. The team's leading passer (
Logan Lee, 1,018 yds/10 TDs), two leading rushers (
Tyler Balla - 282 yds;
Brandon Sellers - 166 yds), and three leading tacklers (
Tristan Rhoades - 55,
Marcus Davenport - 37,
Craye Nehler 35), are all sophomores, while freshman
Alex Victor currently ranks second in the NCAC in receiving touchdowns (6) and yards per reception (19.2). In last week's game against DePauw, 16 of Allegheny's 22 starters were either freshmen or sophomores.
UP NEXT
Allegheny will play its final road game of the season next Saturday, traveling to Hiram for a 1 p.m. contest. The Gators will then close out the regular season with back-to-back home games, hosting Ohio Wesleyan on Nov. 5, and Wittenberg Nov. 12.
ALLEGHENY VS. DENISON
THE SERIES: This week marks the 31st all-time meeting between Allegheny and Denison, with the Gators holding a commanding 22-8 lead in the series. Denison, however, has owned play as of late, winning in each of the past three seasons. Alelgheny's last win over the Big Red came in the 2011 season, a 31-28 home victory.
LAST MEETING: On October 24 of last season, Denison defeated Allegheny 33-7 at Frank B. Fuhrer Field. The Big Red did all of their scoring in two quarters, with 16 points in the second, and 17 in the fourth. Denison quarterback Cannan Gebele completed 17 of 23 passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns, while leading both sides with 148 rushing yards, including a 10-yard touchdown run. Allegheny's
Logan Lee completed 19 of 35 passes for 216 yards, and hooked up with
Tyler Smith for the team's lone touchdown, a 20-yard strike to
Tyler Smith midway through the fourth quarter. Defensively, Allegheny's
Chris Patrick recorded 3.5 tackles for loss, including 2.0 sacks, while
Will Aeschbacher had five tackles, including a sack, and forced a fumble. Denison's Andrew Baird led the Big Red with eight tackles, with Lars Soderberg tallying 2.0 quarterback sacks. Using a rushing attack that gained 222 yards, Denison had a decided edge in possession, 34:15 - 25:45.
