MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College football team capped off the 2025 season with a bang on Saturday, as the Gators clobbered visiting Bethany College for a 42-6 victory on Senior Day at Frank B. Fuhrer Field.
Allegheny (4-6, 4-4 PAC) put together one of its most impressive performances in recent memory and was one play away from a 42-point shutout against the Bison (1-9, 1-7 PAC). The win was the team's fourth, the most in a season since 2019, while the Gators ended the year with their best conference win percentage since going 6-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) in 2018.
The afternoon began with the traditional Senior Day festivities, but it was freshman quarterback
Sean Siska (Greenacres, Fla./American Heritage) who garnered most of the spotlight on the field. Filling in for the injured
Carson Colucci (Brewster, Ohio/Fairless) and
Nick Barker (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan), Siska became the second true freshman to earn a start this fall, but looked more like a veteran in the first significant playing time of his career. He completed 14-of-19 pass attempts (73.7%) for 274 yards and four touchdowns without an interception. In the second quarter, Siska found
Chris Gisewhite (Corpus Christi, Texas/Flour Bluff) wide open down the middle of the field for a 55-yard, one-play scoring drive. In the third quarter, he tossed a 31-yard touchdown to
Devin Larry (Loganville, Ga./Loganville Christian), who beat the Bethany defense with a hitch-and-go down the far sideline.
Perhaps Siska's best friend all afternoon was his teammate in the backfield,
Dominic Berarducci (Erie, Pa./McDowell), who kept the chains moving with a formidable ground game. The second-year back logged 146 yards and two touchdowns on the ground while averaging more than seven yards per carry. His highlight-reel run came near the end of the first quarter, as Berarducci followed his pulling center
Aiden Watt (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman) to the right side of the formation before breaking off a 49-yard score.
The defense's bend-but-don't-break performance nearly led to Allegheny's second shutout of the season. Bethany was forced to punt on four of their first five possessions. The lone exception was a turnover by the Bison punter, who fumbled a snap and allowed the Gators to gain possession on Bethany's 17-yard line. One of Bethany's most promising drives in the first half ended with a
David Williams (Boca Raton, Fla./Boca Raton) interception in the end zone. Alas, after the Bison were stopped on downs on back-to-back drives in the second half, they managed to break off a 57-yard touchdown on a fourth-and-seven play after the two-minute timeout.
