OBERLIN, Ohio -- Sophomore
Andre Anderson (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) hit personal records in both throwing events to lead the Allegheny College men's track and field team at Oberlin College's Dan Kinsey Invitational on Friday.
Anderson had a stellar night in both the shot put and weight throw. He PR'd in both events, reaching 13.98 meters in the former and 15.73 in the latter. After five attempts in the shot put, the sophomore standout was third in the standings, but his final throw vaulted him into first place ahead of Kallen Wilson of Marietta College and Kaden Kiesel of Baldwin Wallace University. In the weight throw, Anderson's first attempt was his best, solidifying a runner-up finish and an All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) qualifier.
Austin Stewart (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) also earned a victory at Oberlin. Stewart was the only sprinter with a sub-23-second time in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 22.82 seconds. The third-year Gator was 0.19 seconds better than second-place Zavier Lindsay of Marietta.
Junior
Grant Miller (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney Area) took second in the pole vault in a tiebreaker with Marietta's Cade Miracle. Both athletes needed all three attempts to clear 4.30 meters, but Miller was named the runner-up since he passed on all of the previous heights and had zero misses. Miracle, on the other hand, missed his first try at 3.85 meters and 4.15 meters, resulting in a third-place finish.
