GENEVA, Ohio -- Allegheny College's
Aaron Moon (Springfield, Va./Lake Braddock) concluded his remarkable senior season with a 10th-place showing at the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, on Thursday afternoon.
Moon, the 2025 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Track and Field Athlete of the Year, competed in the long jump on the opening day of the national championship meet. The standout senior, who has reset the program record in the long jump on numerous occasions in his two seasons at Allegheny, finished 10th out of 22 athletes in the event. His best mark was his second of three jumps, which measured 7.08 meters.Â
The top nine jumpers at the meet advanced to the finals and earned three additional attempts. Moon, who was seeded 19th heading into nationals, barely missed the cut for the final rounds. He trailed the ninth-place qualifier, Max Reis of Saint John's University (Minn.), by a mere centimeter.
Through the rainy weather, Joshua Rivers from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh prevailed to win his second consecutive outdoor national championship and fourth overall long jump title. Rivers reached 7.56 meters on two of his six tries to beat second-place Dameco Walker of Ripon College.
By finishing inside the top 16, Moon secured a spot on the All-America Second Team. The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) introduced second team awards for those in places ninth through 16th in individual events during the 2023-24 season. Moon is the first Gator from the men's track and field team to earn All-America honors since
Jacob Boord '24 finished fourth in the javelin in 2023 and is the first Allegheny athlete recognized in the long jump.
