MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- The Allegheny College women's track and field team climbed into second place on the final day of the 2025 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Outdoor Championships Friday at West Virginia University's Mylan Park.
The Gators concluded the first half of the two-day meet in third out of the 11-team conference, just one point behind Westminster College. But Allegheny leapfrogged the Titans with several strong performances on Friday to secure the silver medal. However, neither team could catch up to the champions from Grove City College. The Wolverines earned the team title with 206 points, followed by Allegheny with 138 and Westminster with 131. No other team in the PAC reached triple digits on the scoreboard.
In addition to nearly a dozen personal records on Friday, six Gators and both relay teams secured All-PAC honors by placing among the top three.
Distance standout
Nelly Stafford (Middletown, Md./Middletown) began her day with a PR and a second-place finish in the 1,500-meter race. Her time of 4:38.01 was nearly three seconds quicker than her 4:41.10 from the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on March 29. Stafford was also one of three Gators in the top six of the 5,000-meter run alongside
Chloe Bonson (Penn Township, Pa./Penn-Trafford) and
Marrin Crist (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area).
Allegheny's throwers excelled at the PAC Outdoor Championships and combined for seven top-five finishes in the shot put, discus, and javelin.
After the top nine javelin throwers wrapped up the rounds postponed from Thursday,
Elizabeth Lubold (Indiana, Pa./Indiana Area) came in second at 38.11 meters. On her final toss in the shot put,
Emma Miller (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) reached 12.32 meters for another runner-up finish. Lastly,
Laila Davis (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton) established a new PR in the discus on her third attempt, which measured 38.73 meters.
