SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Allegheny College women's track and field team battled through Mother Nature to compete in the John Papa Invitational, hosted by Slippery Rock University on a rainy Thursday.
Although the meet was interrupted by thunderstorms that plagued western Pennsylvania throughout the day, the Gators managed to score numerous top-10 finishes, personal records, and a handful of All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) qualifiers.
On the track, sophomore
Evie Ellenberger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) posted the second-fastest 100-meter time in outdoor team history. Ellenberger placed third behind a Division I sprinter from Youngstown State and a D-II runner from Slippery Rock with a time of 12.35 seconds. She shaved sixth-tenths of a second off of her previous PR from last year's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship meet, and trails only Mihaela Toader '23 (12.15 seconds) in the Gator record books. In addition, Ellenberger was seventh in the triple jump at 10.82 meters.
Junior
Corinne Inkley (Randolph, N.Y./Randolph Central) and senior
Elizabeth Lubold (Indiana, Pa./Indiana Area) also added top-five finishes in their respective field events, and both achieved AARTFC marks. Inkley was the second-best D-III jumper in the pole vault and tied for fourth overall by clearing 3.40 meters on her first attempt. In the javelin, Lubold's fourth throw measured 36.09 meters, a season-best and good enough for fourth place as the top D-III thrower in the event.
