Ellenberger Caps Sophomore Year With Another All-American Performance

LA CROSSE, Wisc. --
Evie Ellenberger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) capped off an electric sophomore season by claiming her second All-America award at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday evening at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Following a fifth-place finish at indoor national championships, Ellenberger came in sixth place at the outdoor meet. As a result, she was once again named to the All-America First Team, becoming the first Gator woman to repeat as an All-American during both the indoor and outdoor seasons in the same year in nearly two decades.

Ellenberger fouled on her first attempt, but solidified her spot in the finals by reaching 5.76 meters on her second jump. Her first jump of the championship rounds measured 5.82 meters and would have also landed her in sixth place, one centimeter ahead of Salisbury University's Mia Hill (5.81 meters). However, on her sixth and final attempt, Ellenberger tied her personal record – and her own outdoor program record – by clearing 5.88 meters. That matched her mark from her PR from her victory at last week's All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships.

The 2026 outdoor long jump crown went to Chloe Hein of Centre College. Hein, who was the only jumper ranked ahead of Ellenberger in the Great Lakes Region and the NCAA's indoor long jump champion, secured the title with a winning mark of 6.43 meters.

Ellenberger is the first Gator since Liz Earley '08 to garner All-America accolades indoors and outdoors in the same year, and she's the seventh athlete in program history to do so.

In addition to her numerous track and field successes from 2025-26, Ellenberger also helped Allegheny's women's tennis team win the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) championship in the fall and received All-PAC First Team doubles honors and All-PAC Second Team recognition for singles.
