TRAFFORD, Pa. -- For a third week in a row, Allegheny College's
Mariah Helvy-Bruce (Braddock, Pa./Woodland Hills) was tabbed the Women's Track and Field Newcomer of the Week by the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC).
Including the indoor season, Helvy-Bruce has now been recognized by the PAC with weekly awards on four occasions.
At Slippery Rock University's John Papa Invitational, Helvy-Bruce set a new personal record in the 400-meter hurdles. After being clocked at 1:07.10 in her first attempt at the event at Westminster College the week prior, the first-year sprinter finished in eighth place at SRU with a time of 1:06.96. Helvy-Bruce was the third-fastest Division III athlete in the race.
Helvy-Bruce and the rest of the Gators are set to host their annual home meet, the Marty Goldberg Gator Invitational, on Friday, April 24, at the Robertson Athletic Complex.
