ALLIANCE, Ohio --
A trio from the Allegheny College men's track and field competed at the University of Mount Union's Last Chance Meet on Wednesday, May 14, and Thursday, May 15, at the Purple Raiders' Kehres Stadium.

Junior Jonah Wells (Wyndmoor, Pa./Springfield Township) posted his second-best javelin throw of the season and finished as the runner-up. His best attempt was his third, which traveled 49.99 meters. His fourth throw was almost as good, falling just 10 centimeters short at 49.89 meters.

Second-year pole vaulter Grant Miller (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney Area) cleared 4.50 meters on his first attempt, which secured a sixth-place finish.

The busiest Gator was Aaron Moon (Springfield, Va./Lake Braddock), who spent both days completing his first decathlon of the season. Moon collected 6,302 points and finished second overall behind Carnegie Mellon University's Casey Potrebic (6,488). Not only was Moon's point total a new decathlon personal record, but the senior standout added PRs in the long jump, discus, and 400-meter dash. He won the long jump with a new program record of 7.26 meters. Moon also finished first in the 100-meter dash (11.03 seconds) and 110-meter hurdles (15.80 seconds).

The top 22 declared athletes in each event will be selected to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division III Championships at the SPIRE Institute next week. Although Moon's 6,302 points in the decathlon weren't enough to reach the top 22, his long jump is ranked 19th in the country. The NCAA will announce official selections for the national championship meet on Friday night.
