SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Allegheny College men's track and field team posted a handful of personal records at Slippery Rock University's Dave Labor Invitational, hosted by the Rock at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium on Friday, April 4, and Saturday, April 5.
On the track, senior
Aaron Moon (Springfield, Va./Lake Braddock) was clocked with the fifth-best 100-meter dash in program history. He placed 13th out of the 80 sprinters who competed in the 100-meter race at 10.90 seconds. It marks his first-ever sub-11-second time in the event and the third-best time in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) this spring.
Moon also helped both the 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays to a pair of top-five finishes. The 4x400 team, which included
Zack Wyse (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin),
Jordan Anderson (Attica, N.Y./Attica), and
Austin Stewart (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic), placed fourth behind a trio of Division II schools with a time of 3:30.42, the second-best in the PAC.Â
First-year thrower
Cameron Sadler (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) had a busy weekend competing in the shot put, discus, and hammer. His best performance came in the open division of the shot put, where he placed fifth at 12.01 meters. His best discus throw, measured at 32.81 meters, was nearly four meters better than his outdoor debut at Indiana University of Pennsylvania on March 22, and good enough for 19th place.
Three Allegheny jumpers produced outdoor PRs on Saturday despite the less-than-perfect weather conditions.
Carter Betz (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brentwood) placed eighth in the long jump at 6.48 meters, 17 centimeters better than his previous PR outdoors and only three centimeters shy of his overall best.
Cherrieke Bufis (Rochester, N.Y./Vertus Charter) finished 14th in the triple jump at 12.41 meters, 19 centimeters better than his mark from the first outdoor meet of the season at IUP. In the high jump,
Evan Kurpakus (Mars, Pa./Mars) reached an outdoor-best mark of 1.70 meters, tied for 25th place.
