PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Allegheny College women's track and field team excelled at the 2025 Carnegie Mellon University Invitational over the weekend with multiple medal finishes and several top-30 national performances.
In total, the Gators came away with one victory, four top-three finishes, and eight marks that rank among the top 30 in all of Division III.
Senior
Nelly Stafford (Middletown, Md./Middletown) picked up Allegheny's lone gold in the 1,500-meter race, one of two personal records at the meet. She topped a deep field of 64 total runners with a time of 4:41.10 and beat the runner up from Division I Duquesne University by 1.38 seconds. Her time is not only the best in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), but also ranks 30th nationally.
Distance specialist
Chloe Bonson (Penn Township, Pa./Penn-Trafford) also posted a pair of PRs, highlighted by her second-place effort in the 5,000-meter race. Bonson crossed the finish line in 17:08.80, nearly 29 seconds better than her previous best from her win at PAC Indoor Championships last month. The junior, who represented the Gators at the 2024 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, ranks eighth in the country.
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase,
Marrin Crist (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) shaved more than a second off her previous PR en route to a bronze finish. She was clocked at 11:15.63, slightly better than the 11:16.89 she recorded at last year's PAC Outdoor Championships. Crist's standout performance has her ranked 17th nationally.
Laila Davis (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton) didn't establish any personal records, but flexed her muscle with two top-10 finishes in the shot put and hammer throws. She trailed only Norrah Lemongo of Division I University of Pittsburgh and Jing McCann, who competed unattached out of Division II PennWest California. Davis reached 47.44 meters on her third toss, the 16th-best mark in Division III.
