GENEVA, Ohio -- On Saturday, the Allegheny College men's indoor track and field team competed at the 2025 SPIRE Collegiate Indoor Games, hosted by the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

The Gators faced a deep field at the SPIRE Institute, which hosted 21 different programs from all three divisions of the NCAA, as well as two running clubs. Allegheny was one of eight Division III teams in attendance and one of six from the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC). 

Second-year sprinter Austin Stewart (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) earned two top-25 finishes in the 200- and 400-meter dashes. Stewart was 18th out of 65 in the 200m and 24th out of 56 in the 400m with times of 22.81 seconds and 53.04 seconds, respectively.

Cole Jooste (Upper Saint Clair, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) and Zack Wyse (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) continued their noteworthy seasons in the mid-distance events. Jooste ran his second-fastest mile of the year at 4:29.26 and placed 13th out of 63 total runners. Wyse's 2:00.55 in the 800-meter run is an indoor personal record and more than four-and-a-half seconds better than his previous season best. Additionally, Jooste and Wyse represented half of Allegheny's 4x400-meter relay team, which was seventh overall and third among D-III programs at 3:35.94.

Junior distance runner Caleb Freeman (Killingworth, Conn./Haddam-Killingworth) set a new PR in the 3,000-meter race. His time of 9:05.76 was more than 15 seconds quicker than his previous best from the 2023 SPIRE Collegiate Indoor Games.

Allegheny's highest-placing athletes were Aaron Moon (Springfield, Va./Lake Braddock) and Grant Miller (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney Area) in the long jump and pole vault, respectively. Both were inside the top 10, as Moon was fifth and Miller posted a seventh-place performance. Miller's 4.20-meter mark tied his previous indoor PR from last year's PAC Indoor Championships.

The Gators have added one more regular-season meet to the 2024-25 schedule before the PAC Indoor Championships. A handful of Allegheny athletes will return to Case Western Reserve University for the second time this winter to participate in the Ed Finnigan Greater Cleveland Colleges Invite on Friday, February 21.
