YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Seven runners from the Allegheny College men's track and field opened the indoor season by competing at Youngstown State University's YSU Icebreaker at the Watson and Tressel Training Site on Friday.
In the sprints,
Austin Stewart (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) paced the Gators in both the 200- and 400-meter dashes by placing 21st and 15th, respectively. His time of 50.04 seconds in the 400-meter race marked a new indoor personal record for the junior. Second-year sprinter
Jordan Anderson (Attica, N.Y./Attica) set PRs in both events, clocking in at 23.94 seconds in the 200 and 51.71 seconds in the 400.
Allegheny also logged several PRs in the distance races. All three Gators in the 5,000-meter run notched either indoor or career bests, led by senior
Caleb Freeman (Killingworth, Conn./Haddam-Killingworth), who placed 23rd out of 53 with an indoor best of 16:00.45. Fellow senior
Patrick Sharp (Brighton, N.Y./Brighton) shaved nearly eight seconds off of his previous 5K PR and clocked in at 16:32.44.
