NEW CONCORD, Ohio -- The Allegheny College women's cross country team placed second overall at the Daniel Mullen Memorial Invitational, hosted by Muskingum University on Saturday afternoon.

The Gators earned 65 points in the final standings, trailing only the runners from Case Western Reserve University, who won the invite with 22 points. Allegheny, which placed all six runners inside the top 25, was 20 points ahead of third-place Muskingum (85).

Junior Shyann Rulander (Warren, Pa./Warren) paced the Blue and Gold with an eighth-place finish in 25:06.4. Gabriella Palmer (Ligonier, Pa./Ligonier Valley) logged a six-kilometer personal record by more than 12 seconds, as the first-year runner placed 13th with a time of 26:17.0. Junior Samantha Oakes (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) followed Palmer in 14th place at 26:45.3.

Sophomores Sophia Shiroff (Denver, Colo./Denver East) and Anne Weis (Granville, Ohio/Granville) crossed the finish line back-to-back to round out Allegheny's scoring five. Shiroff was clocked at 27:28.0, just 15.3 seconds ahead of Weis, as the Gator duo finished in 20th and 21st, respectively.

First-year Sophia Rader (Falls Church, Va./George C. Marshall) also posted a new 6K personal record after shaving nearly two seconds off her time from the Ben Mourer '07 Memorial Classic. Rader was 24th out of 60 total runners with a time of 27:54.9.
