USTFCCCA Release
NEW ORLEANS -- The Allegheny College men's and women's cross country programs were recognized by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as All-Academic Teams for the 2024 season.
Allegheny was one of 192 Division III institutions and one of only five Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) members to have both the men's and women's cross country teams earn an All-Academic Team award from the USTFCCCA this year.
To qualify, a team must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.1. On the men's side, Allegheny boasted a 3.35 GPA, while the women finished the fall semester with a 3.74 GPA.
Additionally, four members of the women's cross country team, winner of the 2024 PAC championship, were crowned All-Academic Athletes:
Chloe Bonson (Penn Township, Pa./Penn-Trafford),
Celia Cocca (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora),
Marrin Crist (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area), and
Nelly Stafford (Middletown, Md./Middletown). In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet. The Gators tied Grove City College for the most All-Academic honorees in the PAC from women's cross country.
