TRAFFORD, Pa. – Following an undefeated week in Florida, Allegheny College men's tennis standout
Anton Hedlund (Hovas, Sweden/Katrinelundsgymnasiet) was crowned the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Week.
Hedlund went 10-0 during Allegheny's spring break trip in Orlando, Florida. Nine of his 10 victories, including all five singles wins, were earned in the No. 1 position.
The Swedish sensation won all five singles matches in straight sets, including a 6-1, 6-4 win over Division II Cedarville University's Nathan Hollis and a 6-2, 6-0 win over Jaume Riera Galindo from Spring Arbor University, an NAIA institution. Hedlund also battled to a pair of tiebreak wins in doubles, as he teamed with
Evan Nelson (Scituate, Mass./Scituate) for an 8-7 (7-2) win over Saint John's University (Minn.) and a 7-6 (7-4) win with
David Rodriguez (St. Ann's, Trinidad & Tobago/Fatima College) against D-II Cedarville.
The Gators will play a doubleheader against Carnegie Mellon University and Thiel College on Saturday, March 23. The match with the Tartans will be played in Grove City, Pennsylvania, at 10:00 a.m., followed by the road meeting against the Tomcats at 3:00 p.m.
