MEADVILLE, Pa. -- After playing a handful of tournaments and duals in the fall, the Allegheny College men's tennis team is preparing to defend its Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) championship this spring.

The Gators have 16 matches on the docket for the spring portion of the 2023-24 campaign. Five of those matches occur in sunny Florida during spring break, and five will be held on their home courts at the Robertson Athletic Complex.

The non-conference schedule is challenging. It includes two of the top 25-ranked teams in Division III and one Division II opponent. Action begins on Friday, February 9, when the Gators travel to the Mayfield Village Racquet Club in Mayfield, Ohio, to face No. 1 Case Western Reserve University. The Spartans are not only ranked first in the country but are coming off of their first-ever national championship last spring.

During the team's spring break trip to Florida, the Gators will play both Adrian College and Saint John's University at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Campus. This impressive facility includes 100 courts and serves as a premier training facility for professionals and amateurs. Both matches against the Bulldogs and Johnnies are scheduled for Monday, March 4. Three days later, Allegheny faces Division II Cedarville University in Kissimmee, Florida, at Oak Street Park.

The PAC schedule begins after Allegheny returns north. On Wednesday, March 20, the Gators will open conference action against Franciscan University. On Saturday, March 23, Allegheny will face No. 22-ranked Carnegie Mellon University and Thiel College in a non-traditional doubleheader.

Saint Vincent College hosts Allegheny in a key PAC match on Monday, April 8, at 4:00 p.m. in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. The Gators return to Robertson 48 hours later for the biggest contest of the spring, as the Blue and Gold battle Grove City College in a rematch of the 2023 PAC championship. Last season, Allegheny was the only conference team to defeat the Wolverines in the regular season, and then had to repeat that performance in the PAC Championship Tournament finals.

The 2024 PAC Championship Tournament begins on Tuesday, April 23.
