Rodriguez, Memije Win PAC Men's Tennis Weekly Accolades

PAC Release

TRAFFORD, Pa. --
For the fourth time this spring, the Allegheny College men's tennis team received both weekly awards from the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC).

After posting four shutout wins against PAC opponents and clinching the conference's regular-season championship, Allegheny teammates David Rodriguez (St. Ann's, Trinidad & Tobago/Fatima College) and Adam Memije (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) were named Player and Newcomer of the Week, respectively. Both Gators were undefeated with two doubles and two singles wins.

Rodriguez earned two No. 1 doubles wins against Geneva College and Thiel College with 6-0 final scores, which included a victory with Memije against the Golden Tornadoes. In singles competition, he beat Ben Busler of Geneva, 6-0, 6-1, and Isaac DeMan of Grove City College, 6-2, 6-0.

Memije was a double winner against the Golden Tornadoes and the Wolverines. He earned both of his singles wins from the top spot in the lineup. The first-year standout defeated Braiden Smalley of Geneva with identical 6-3 sets. He then topped Grove City's No. 1 singles player, Allen Morris, in a 6-2, 6-1 decision.

The Gators, ranked No. 65 nationally in the latest poll, have one regular-season match remaining before hosting the PAC Championship Tournament. Allegheny will travel to Washington and Jefferson College on Saturday, April 18, for a 10 a.m. showdown against the Presidents.
