WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The three-time defending Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) champion Allegheny College men's tennis team locked up its fourth consecutive undefeated conference regular season on Saturday morning.
The Gators (15-7, 8-0 PAC) ended the regular season with an unblemished 8-0 conference record after earning its eighth-straight 7-0 victory at Washington and Jefferson College. Although the Blue and Gold already earned home-court advantage throughout the upcoming PAC tournament, Saturday's win marked Allegheny's 32nd consecutive regular-season PAC victory since rejoining the league for the 2022-23 season.
W&J (5-11, 4-4 PAC) did manage to do something no other PAC team has this spring; the Presidents took one of the three doubles matches. While the Gators earned the doubles point, the duo of Jackson Akers and Colby Peters played spoiler by defeating
Reid Stasolla (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) and
Paxton Garland-Sutter (Rochester, Ill./Rochester), 6-3.
In the singles portion of the match,
Adam Memije (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) inched closer to Allegheny history with his 25th win of the year. Memije beat W&J's Jacob Bennett, 6-1, 6-0, in the No. 1 spot. The standout freshman now stands just one win shy of the team record for singles wins in a season, held by Patrick Cole '14.
