Bonson will have a chance to conclude her remarkable junior campaign on the national stage. She qualified for NCAAs after placing eighth overall at the Great Lakes Regional Championships on Saturday with the second-best 6K time of her career (22:09.3). Bonson improved by nearly two full minutes and finished 145 places higher at this year's regional meet in comparison to her performance just a year ago. She also earned All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) First Teams honors after placing fourth in the conference championships race on November 2.
The third-year runner from Penn Township, Pennsylvania, is the first Gator to run at nationals since teammates
Nelly Stafford (Middletown, Md./Middletown) and
Mazzie Standish (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) and the rest of the 2021 women's cross country team competed at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Kentucky. That year, the Gators earned an at-large bid with a sixth-place team finish at the regional meet.
