Allegheny Soccer Teams to Host PAC Quarterfinal Games on Saturday

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Both Allegheny College soccer teams are set to host Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) quarterfinal matches as part of a busy weekend of action at the Robertson Athletic Complex on Saturday, November 2.

The men's soccer team will open the PAC Championship Tournament as the No. 4 seed hosting No. 5 Chatham University. Kick-off on the grass pitch at Robertson is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. It's the second time in three seasons since rejoining the PAC that the Gators earned a home playoff game, as Allegheny finished exactly where it was predicted in the PAC preseason coaches' poll.

On the other hand, the Allegheny women's soccer team has exceeded its preseason standing in the PAC. The Gators, who were voted sixth, ended the year as the No. 3 seed and will host No. 6 Waynesburg University on the blue turf at 6:00 p.m. The women's soccer team is making its first postseason appearance since the fall of 2014 when the Gators earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championships after finishing as the runner-up in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) tournament. The last time the Blue and Gold hosted a playoff game was November 5, 2014, a 4-1 victory over Denison University in the NCAC semifinals.

The first 50 Allegheny students at each soccer game on Saturday will receive a free t-shirt.

Both soccer teams are riding the momentum from their leading scorers, Brady Napoleon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) and Emma Miller (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy). Napoleon and Miller are looking to extend their historic seasons in the PAC Championship Tournament. Candidates for PAC Player of the Year honors, Napoleon ranks 10th in Division III with a career-high 34 points (16g-2a) and is one goal shy of tying the program's single-season scoring record, set by Hall of Famer David Nelson '79 in 1977. Miller ranks fourth in Division III in points (59) and goals (24). With one more point, she would join Hall of Famer Nellie Springer Kraus '89 as only the second Gator ever to record 60 points in a season.

Saturday's action at Robertson also features Senior Day for the field hockey team. The Gators will recognize seniors Bella Cowen (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day School) and Jenna Cassani (Belgrade, Maine/Messalonskee) before their noon contest against Oberlin College on the blue turf.

Looking around the PAC, the Allegheny men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the PAC Championships on Saturday at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds in New Castle, Pennsylvania. The women's six-kilometer race begins at 11:00 a.m., while the men's eight-kilometer race is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
