MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's soccer team celebrated Senior Day Saturday (Sept. 25) against Saint Francis with a 2-1 win.
Before the match, the Gators honored their six senior members:
Karley Johnson (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville Community),
Katherine Surdykowski (Chesterfield, N.J./Northern Burlington County Regional),
Casey Bender (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus),
Delaney David (Cleveland, Ohio/Brooklyn),
Kylie Upton (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) and
Olivia Wilson (Mars, Pa./Mars).
The Gators needed just seven minutes to score. Bender collected the ball at midfield and passed it ahead to
Madeline Schneider (Poolesville, Md./Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart). Schneider raced past the defenders. She passed it towards the middle to David, whose shot was tucked right inside the far post for the score. The goal marked her second of the season.
Each side had more opportunities in the half as they combined for 23 shots, but the Gators kept their 1-0 lead as
Alex Augustine (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) stopped six shots.
The Red Wolves tied the game in the 53rd minute, scoring during a scrum following a corner kick.
Surdykowski nearly put the Gators back in front minutes later, but her shot was stopped at the last second.
The Gators found the go-ahead goal in the 78th minute. Surdykowski drove in and had a shot blocked. David quickly followed up and buried the ball in the back of the net for her second goal of the game.
That proved to be the final goal of the game as the Gators captured the win.

News and Notes
- Allegheny is now 5-0 all-time against Saint Francis.
- Saint Francis joined the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) this season after being a NCAA Division I institute, but are currently not eligible for the PAC Championships.
- David scored her ninth and tenth career goal. It was her second multi-goal game at Allegheny.
- Surdykowski had her 16th career assists while Schneider tallied her seventh.
