MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's soccer team rallied from a two goal deficit to draw with Westminster, 2-2, Wednesday (Sept. 23) in Meadville.
Neither side was able to find the back of the net in the opening half. The Gators held an 8-5 advantage in shots and earned the only corner of the half.
The Titans scored two quick consecutive goals in the second half. The first came off a corner kick in the 64th minute. Three minutes later, the Titans struck again to make it a two goal game.
The Gators cut the lead in half minutes later. After receiving a pass from
Delaney David (Cleveland, Ohio/Brooklyn),
Madeline Schneider (Poolesville, Md./Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart) floated a shot from about 30 yards out over the head of the goalkeeper. The goal was her second of the year.
Ten minutes later, the Gators found the equalizer. A corner kick by
Emma Tikey (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville) found its way across the box to
Lauren Bowser (Cabot, Pa./Knoch). Bowser put a quick foot on the ball. The shot bounced off the bottom portion of the crossbar and into the net to tie it up. It was her first goal of the year.
Each team had opportunities the rest of the way, but neither found the go-ahead goal as the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
