USTFCCCAÂ Release
NEW ORLEANS -- For the first time this fall, the Allegheny College women's cross country team has cracked the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Great Lakes Regional Rankings.
The Week 4 edition of the NCAA Division III Regional Rankings, released by the USTFCCCA on Tuesday afternoon, has the Gators listed seventh in the Great Lakes. Allegheny is the only Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) institution in the Great Lakes Region's top 10, although Grove City College and Saint Vincent College appear in the Mid-Atlantic poll.
Allegheny's climb comes following two strong performances over the past three weeks. On September 21, the Gators won their home invitational, the three-mile Allegheny Classic, by placing eight runners inside the top 10. Last Friday, October 4, the Blue and Gold placed second out of 17 teams at the six-kilometer Ohio Wesleyan University Invitational, trailing only the Battling Bishops from OWU, who have been regionally ranked since the preseason.
The Gators have one more tune-up before the 2024 PAC Championships. On Saturday, October 19, Allegheny will travel to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, to run in Gettysburg College's Aubrey Shenk Invite.
