Men's Golf Claims Both PAC Weekly Awards for Third Consecutive Week

PAC Release

TRAFFORD, Pa. --
Allegheny College men's golf continues to dominate the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) awards, as the Gators have won both Player and Newcomer of the Week for the third week in a row.

For the third time this fall, Carter Hassenplug (North East, Pa./North East) was crowned Player of the Week. For the third week in a row, Dylan Kochis (Saint Augustine, Fla./B. Reed Henderson (Pa.)) was named the conference's Newcomer of the Week. Heading into the fall portion of the 2024-25 PAC Championships, the Gators have taken home at least one award following every tournament they've played this season.

Hassenplug and Kochis helped the Blue and Gold finish in fourth place out of 19 teams at the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic, a two-day event co-hosted by Gettysburg College and McDaniel College at the Waynesboro Country Club. The field not only included 23rd-ranked Franklin and Marshall College, but both co-hosts also entered the tournament receiving votes in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll.

During the second round, Hassenplug once again etched his name into program history by tying the team record for the lowest single-record score with an 8-under 64. He joins Chris Moore '09 as the only two Gators to fire a 64, just one week after carding a 66 at the Northeast Elite Invitational. Hassenplug's record round included seven birdies, an eagle on the par-4 second, and nine pars. He ended the tournament tied for second place with a 139 (-5).

Kochis' opening round was the best among the Allegheny quintet. He posted an even 72 on Saturday with birdies on the second, fifth, and 18th holes. The junior, in his first season of collegiate competition, added two birdies in the second round and tied for 49th place with an 11-over 155.

Hassenplug, Kochis, and the rest of the Allegheny golf team will begin their PAC title defense with the first two rounds of the 2024-25 PAC Championships on Monday, October 14, and Tuesday, October 15. The fall half of the four-round tournament will be held at the Avalon Lakes Golf Club in Warren, Ohio.
