MEADVILLE, Pa. -- For the second time this season, the Allegheny College women's cross country team captured gold, as the Gators won the 2023 Allegheny Classic on their home course at the Robertson Athletic Complex on Saturday morning.

The Gators, who also finished first at Gannon University's season-opening Race at the Park, bested Chatham University in a head-to-head team competition. Allegheny posted a perfect score of 15, while the Cougars had 50 points. Runners from La Roche University, Thiel College, Carlow University, Penn State Fayette, and Penn State DuBois also participated in the three-mile race but did not post a team score.

The first seven across the finish line were Gators. Junior Celia Cocca (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) earned the individual title as the only runner with a sub-19-minute time (18:59). Marrin Crist (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) was the runner-up at 19:11, and fellow junior classmate Nelly Stafford (Middletown, Md./Middletown) was third at 19:53.

The next four Gators, in order from fourth through seventh, were Chloe Bonson (Penn Township, Pa./Penn-Trafford), Madeline Allen (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne), Shyann Rulander (Warren, Pa./Warren), and Renee Tetlow (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva).
