Field Hockey Announces 2023 Schedule

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Under the tutelage of first-year head coach Lauren Thomas, the Allegheny College field hockey team revealed its 2023 slate of games.

The Gators' 2023 schedule features 16 games, with seven of those on their home field at the Robertson Athletic Complex Blue Turf. Unfortunately, fans eager to see the Gators in action will have to wait patiently. Allegheny's first eight contests are all on the road. The eight-game road swing includes two stops in the Buckeye State and one trip to Kentucky.

The team opens on Saturday, September 2, and Sunday, September 3, with back-to-back games at Juniata College and Susquehanna University. The following weekend, the Gators travel to Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, for a pair of neutral site games against Earlham College in a non-conference match and an opponent to be determined.

The Gators continue non-conference action at Washington and Jefferson College on Wednesday, September 13, before ending their lengthy road trip at Denison University on Saturday, September 16, in the 2023 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) opener.

After road games against Transylvania University (9/23) and NCAC opponent Wittenberg University (9/24), the Gators will finally return to Meadville for a seven-game homestand.

The homestand starts on Saturday, September 30, against Ohio Wesleyan University at 11:30 a.m., followed by a non-conference meeting with Oberlin College on Sunday, October 1, at 1:00 p.m.

The Gators will finish their two-game series against Earlham on Saturday, October 7, in the team's Alzheimer's Awareness Purple Game. The next day, the Gators take on DePauw University (10/8) in their Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Game. The home portion of the schedule concludes with matchups against the College of Wooster (10/11), Kenyon College (10/21), and Washington and Jefferson (10/25), who joined the NCAC for field hockey this year after previously competing in the Empire 8 Conference.

The final regular-season game is on Saturday, October 28, with an NCAC bout against the Yeowomen in Oberlin, Ohio.
