GCAA Release

NORMAN, Okla. -- Allegheny College placed two men's golfers on the NCAA Division III PING All-Region 3 Team, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced Tuesday.

Second-year linksmen Bergas Anargya (Jakarta, Indonesia/Binus School Simprug) and Carter Hassenplug (North East, Pa./North East) represented the Gators on the All-Region 3 Team. Allegheny was one of only three Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) programs to earn All-Region honors, while joining Franklin and Marshall College, Gettysburg College, and McDaniel College as the only schools in Region 3 with multiple selections.

Anargya and Hassenplug are the first Gators to garner All-Region accolades since Matthew Del Rosso '20 did so as a senior in 2020. Furthermore, this year marks Allegheny's first with multiple All-Region selections since 2016.

The 2022-23 PAC Championships medalist and Player of the Year, Hassenplug paced the team with a 74.05 average and four top-10 finishes across 18.5 rounds. His best two-round score came at The Gauntlet at the Dauphin Highlands Golf Club in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where Hassenplug finished with a 1-under-par 143. As the medalist runner-up, he was even at The Ruckus, held at Williamsburg National Golf Club in Williamsburg, Virginia. Over the four-round PAC Championship, Hassenplug carded a 7-over-par 291.

Named to the All-PAC First Team, Anargya had the second-best average on the team at 76.9 across 13 rounds at six events. He ended in a tie for fourth place at the McDaniel College Spring Invite and the PAC tournament, and was fifth at The Ruckus. His lowest round of the year was recorded in the spring portion of the PAC Championships, as Anargya fired a 1-over 71 at the Mill Creek Golf Course in Boardman, Ohio.
