NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Allegheny College swept the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) men's tennis awards for the week ending March 26, as
Anton Hedlund (Hovas, Sweden/Katrinelundsgymnasiet) was crowned the Player of the Week and
Ethan Carr (King of Prussia, Pa./Harriton) was named the Rookie of the Week.
Hedlund and Carr led the Gators to a pair of 9-0 victories over Franciscan University and the University of Mount Union over the weekend. Both players earned four victories, which included a pair of doubles wins together at the No. 1 position. As a tandem, they beat the Barons, 8-1, and the Purple Raiders, 8-2.
In singles play, Hedlund dropped only three games all weekend as Allegheny's No. 1 player. He took down Franciscan's Travis Mistry with identical 6-1 set scores, before defeating Ryan McClure of Mount Union, 6-1, 6-0. At the No. 2 position in the lineup, Carr was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Aidan Palladino in the PAC opener against the Barons. He then beat Colton Mace from Mount Union, 6-2, 6-2.
Hedlund, Carr, and the rest of the Gators will continue PAC competition on Tuesday, March 28, when they visit Waynesburg University at 4:00 p.m.
