CLEVELAND -- Allegheny College men's track and field sent a handful of Gators to the 2023 Ed Finnigan Greater Cleveland Colleges Invite, hosted by Case Western Reserve University at Veale Center on Friday.
In the last tune-up before next week's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Indoor Championships, the young runners in attendance collected numerous personal records, while the field athletes earned a first-place performance.
All five runners who attended the meet at Case Western Reserve were either freshmen or sophomores, and all earned PRs.
Levi Swartz (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) ran both the 60- (7.45 seconds) and 200-meter dashes (24.55 seconds) in record times and paced Allegheny in both events.
Jake Folaron (Murrysville, Pa./Kiski Area) also had a pair of PRs in the 200- (25.36 seconds) and 400-meter dashes (54.54 seconds).
The only upperclassman to make the trip was
Jacob King (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe), who earned the third individual victory of his Allegheny career. King was first in the weight throw with a toss of 15.43 meters, which bested Matthew Russo of John Carroll University by 0.31 meters. Russo did get the win in the shot put, as King finished fifth with a season-best distance of 12.88 meters.
