Women's Lacrosse Announces 2023 Schedule

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Allegheny College women's lacrosse, under the guidance of second-year head coach Patty Pehnke, has announced its 17-game schedule for the upcoming 2023 spring campaign.

The Gators enter their first season as members of the Presidents' Athletics Conference (PAC) with high expectations after going 10-5 in their final year in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) in 2022.

Of the 17 games on the docket, the Gators will play 11 away from the blue turf at the Robertson Athletic Complex. That includes a four-game road swing to kick off the schedule. After opening at Oberlin College on Saturday, February 25, and visiting Fredonia State on Saturday, March 4, Allegheny will fly to the Evergreen State for a cross-country excursion against Whitworth University (3/7) and Whitman College (3/8).

The 2023 home opener on Wednesday, March 15, pits the Gators against Baldwin Wallace University at 6:00 p.m. under the lights on the blue turf.

PAC competition begins with back-to-back home contests against Thiel College (3/25) and Waynesburg University (3/29). Since the program's first season in 1994, Allegheny is a combined 13-0 against the Tomcats and Yellow Jackets, although the Gators haven't faced Waynesburg since 2013.

The final non-conference matchup of the season is slated for Saturday, April 1, when the Gators travel to Gambier, Ohio, to face Kenyon College at 1:00 p.m. While the preseason top 20 did not include the Owls, the voters in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Division III rankings listed Kenyon as one of nine teams also considered for the poll.

The remaining PAC games include home contests against Bethany College (4/12), Saint Vincent College (4/15), and Grove City College (4/22). Allegheny's meeting with Grove City will also feature the team's Senior Day recognition.

The regular season concludes at Washington and Jefferson College, the defending PAC champions, on Wednesday, April 26, and at Franciscan University on Saturday, April 29.

The six-team PAC Championship Tournament begins on Tuesday, May 2, with the title game hosted by the highest remaining seed on Saturday, May 6.
