BETHANY, W. Va. – The Allegheny women's lacrosse team concluded their 2026 season on the road at Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Bethany, falling to the Bison 15-9.
The Bison struck first, scoring a goal after winning the opening draw.
Erin Lowthert (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) tied it up for the Gators on an unassisted goal a minute later.
Caroline Smith (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) then put the Gators in front after converting a free-position opportunity. The Bison responded with two straight goals of their own to regain the lead. The teams continued to go back-and-forth in the frame as the Gators outpaced the Bison 3-1 in the final three minutes of the first.
Aubrey Carion (Pittsburgh, Pa./Kiski Area) scored the third goal for Allegheny while Lowthert struck twice more in the last 90 seconds, with the first assisted by
Kendall Cox (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein), as the Gators took a 5-4 lead into the second.
The back-and-forth continued in the second quarter. After the first Bethany goal of the frame, Smith found the back of the net for the second time. The Bison then rattled off a three-goal run to take an 8-6 lead. Carion scored her second goal of the game on a free-position shot to cut the deficit to 8-7 at the break.
Bethany controlled the momentum in the third quarter as they grew their lead to 12-8. Smith scored for the Gators in the quarter, completing her hat trick.
Cox scored for the Gators in the fourth, but the Bison had a 3-1 goal advantage in the frame as Allegheny fell in their season finale.
Inside the Box
- Lowthert found the back of the net three times while also collecting six draw controls, four groundballs and causing three turnovers.
- Smith also registered a hat trick while leading the team with four groundballs.
- Carion finished with two goals and an assist.
- Cox had a goal and an assist in addition to three groundballs.
- Maya Bloom (Pittsburgh, Pa./Winchester Thurston), Desiree Morin (Meadville, Pa./Meadville Area) and Duchess Jackson (Washington, D.C/National Cathedral School) all had two groundballs.
- Sarah Santicola (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) caused a pair of turnovers.
- Ella Ashton (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) made 14 saves in net.
