YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Ten members of the Allegheny College men's track and field team represented the Gators at the Youngstown State University's Mid-Major Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

The competitive Mid-Major Invite pitted the Gators against teams from all three NCAA Divisions. In total, the 10 Gators participated in seven events across the two-day meet.

For the third time during the indoor season, thrower Jacob King (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) competed in both the weight throw and shot put. He improved by over a half-meter in the shot put as compared to his performance at last week's Fighting Scots Invitational, this time hurling the shot a season-best 12.78 meters. King was 27th in the shot put and was the top Division III student-athlete in the weight throw in 13th place (14.26 meters).

Joe McAuliffe (Massillon, Ohio/Jackson) and Cole Jooste (Upper Saint Clair, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) not only ran the first two legs of the 4x400-meter relay, but also led Allegheny in the 800-meter and one-mile races. McAuliffe was the fourth-best D-III runner in the 800 and placed 49th in a field of 93 with a time of 2:04.06. Jooste, a freshman, ran the one mile for the first time as a Gator, and like McAuliffe, was the fourth-best D-III finisher in the race. He came in 34th out of 99 and was clocked at 4:35.16.

In the long jump, Stephen Cullinan (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) logged the second-best jump of his career at 6.18 meters, just one-tenth of a meter shy of his personal record during the Green and Red Multi heptathlon in December.
