WOOSTER, Ohio -- The Allegheny College men's track and field team returned to indoor competition for the first time in 2023 by participating in the Fighting Scots Invitational, hosted by the College of Wooster on Saturday.
The Gators ranked last in the team standings with 26.5 points, but had entrants in only seven of the 16 events. Six individuals and the 4x400-meter relay team placed inside the top eight, led by the field athletes in the weight throw, pole vault, and shot put.
Jacob King (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) performed well in a pair of throws. He was the runner-up in the weight throw with a distance of 14.66 meters. He also led the Gators in the shot put at 12.24 meters.
Stephen Cullinan (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) also had a pair of top-eight finishes. He was third in the pole vault after clearing 3.95 meters on his first attempt and was two spots behind King in the shot put (11.39 meters).
The 4x400-meter relay team consisting of
Joe McAuliffe (Massillon, Ohio/Jackson),
Cole Jooste (Upper Saint Clair, Pa./Upper Saint Clair),
Zack Wyse (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin), and
Landon Schmader (Brockport, Pa./Brockway) combined for a fourth-place showing and a time of 3:50.09.
