PAC Release

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- After taking second place at the 2022 Allegheny College Classic, the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rewarded the AC women's cross country team with both weekly awards, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Second-year standout Mazzie Standish (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) was crowned the PAC Runner of the Week and first-year teammate Chloe Bonson (Penn Township, Pa./Penn-Trafford) was tabbed the Rookie of the Week.

Standish, the runner-up in the three-mile race at the Robertson Athletic Complex, navigated the course in 19:02. She was only three-and-a-half seconds behind the individual medalist, Ruthie Hughes of Division II Slippery Rock University (18:58.5).

One of five Gators with a top-10 performance, Bonson was the top Division III rookie at the Allegheny Classic. She placed 10th out of 77 participants with a time of 19:52.4.

With 34 team points, Allegheny ended up just three points behind first-place Slippery Rock (31), but held a 59-point advantage over third-place Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

The Gators will return to competition on Saturday, October 1, at SUNY Geneseo's Mike Woods Invitational in Geneseo, New York.
