HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The Allegheny men's golf team continued their fall season at The Gauntlet, hosted by Drew University Sept. 11-12 at the Dauphin Highlands Golf Club in Harrisburg.
The Gators finished the 36 hole, 14 team event in a tie for ninth. After shooting 306 in the opening round, they shaved off 17 strokes for a 289 in the second round, totaling 595 for the weekend. McDaniel won the event with a score of 583.
Carter Hassenplug (North East, Pa./North East) had the top finish for Allegheny. He had rounds of 73 and 70 to finish in seventh with a one-under 143.
Shane Kelley (Glenshaw, Pa./Central Catholic) was second on the team. After a first round score of 77, he dropped seven strokes in round two to finish in a tie for 21st with a 147.
Zachary Melzar (Sterling, Mass./Wachusett Regional) tied for 34th with a score of 151.
Tanner Sliker (Edinboro, Pa./Cathedral Prep) shot a 154 to tie for 54th while
Faaris Cheema (Dubai, UAE/Kings School Al Barsha) finished 74th with a 160.
Taye Pham (Davie, Fla./The Sagemont School) competed as an individual and finished in a tie for 66th.
Allegheny is back on the course this weekend (Sept. 16-17) at the Mercyhurst Invitational, hosted at the Lake View Country Club in Erie.
