HILTON HEAD, S.C.—The Allegheny College women's tennis team shutout Buena Vista University Wednesday (March 22) in Hilton Head, S.C.
Michaela Thompson and
Heidi Mueller picked up the first win of the morning, sweeping the team of Madison Gierstorf and Rica Mizero 8-0 at second doubles. The third doubles team of
Sarah Casey and
Miharu Koh bested Emma Hartz and Emily Hoesing 8-1.
Gaby DeLeon and
Amanda Ress Liere completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win over Lannie Brown and Tarynne Kinghorn at first doubles.
Mueller had the first win for the Gators in single action, defeating Mizero 6-1, 6-0 at fourth singles. Casey then bested Gierstorf 6-0, 6-2 at fifth singles. Koh swept Hoesing 6-0, 6-0 at sixth singles.
Ress Liere defeated Hartz at third singles 6-1, 6-0, followed by Thompson winning her second singles match against Kinghorn 6-2, 6-1. DeLeon closed out the match with a 6-3, 6-3 win at first singles.
The Gators are back in action Friday (March 24) against the University of St. Thomas.
