Thunder Stun Women's Tennis in Spring Finale

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Allegheny College women's tennis team wrapped up its spring break excursion in Central Florida with a 5-2 setback against Trine University at the Lake Crane Tennis Center in Orlando, Florida, on Thursday.

The Thunder (10-1), whose only loss on the season came against a Division II opponent, snapped Allegheny's (14-4) mini win streak after earning consecutive wins against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Tuesday and Capital University on Wednesday.

Senior Maria Lounder (Pittsburgh, Pa./Moon Area) was a double winner against the Thunder. She partnered with sophomore Adriana Navarro (Distrito Central, Honduras/DelCampo School) for a 6-4 triumph over Emilee Bassett and Emily Hatseras in the No. 2 doubles contest. Lounder then beat Alexis Maloney in the No. 4 singles match in straight sets. 

Junior Emiliia Grydnieva (Kyiv, Ukraine/Optima) picked up Allegheny's other singles win. She topped Emma Beehler in a close match in the second spot, 7-5, 6-4.
