ORLANDO, Fla. – The Allegheny women's tennis team picked up a 5-2 win against Capital Wednesday (March 4) at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.
The Gators earned the doubles point with two wins. At first doubles,
Gabrielle Bassette (Miami, Fla./Miami Country Day School) and
Maria Lounder (Pittsburgh, Pa./Moon Area) went into a tiebreaker against their Comet counterparts, winning the extra session 7-4 to take the win. Their second win came at third doubles where
Anabel Bachman (Rogers, Ark./Bentonville) and
Giada Palmieri (Berlin, Germany/Paulsen Gymnasium) had a 6-0 sweep.
In singles action, Lounder and Bachman collected their second wins of the day at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
Adriana Navarro (Distrito Central, Honduras/DelCampo School) had a hard fought three set win at fourth singles while
Emiliia Grydnieva (Kyiv, Ukraine/Optima) collected a 6-3, 7-5 win at second singles.
