Box Score HILTON HEAD, S.C.—The Allegheny College women's lacrosse team concluded its trip to Hilton Head with an 18-8 win over Worcester State Wednesday (March 22).
With the win, the Gators improve to 4-1 to start the season.
Alexa Maloney had four goals on the day while
Lexi Einsig also registered four points on the day with three goals and one assist.
Shelby Piper had a pair of goals and assists.
Maddie Olson assisted on four goals.
Christine McGrath had a pair of goals while
Jessie Thiessen had a goal and an assist.
Taylor Vigneri,
Alex Zielinski,
Sarah Basden and
Jeannie Kirk had a goal each.
The Lancers jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Weiss got the Gators on the board. After a Gator timeout, Vigneri tied the game at two. A second goal by Weiss gave the Gators their first lead of the game, 3-2. Piper followed up with a goal. Maloney then fired off a pair of goals to increase the lead to 6-2. Basden and McGrath found the back of the net before the Lancers got back on the board, scoring three straight to cut the gap to 8-5. Before the end of the half, Maloney scored once again to give the Gators a 9-5 lead at half.
Einsig scored the first goal of the second half, followed by another Maloney goal. After the Lancers scored, Einsig score a pair of goals with a Piper goal in between, increasing the Gator lead to 14-6.
The Lancers cut the lead to seven with a goal but the Gators answered with goals by Kirk, Maloney, Thiessen and McGrath to put the game out of reach. The Lancers added one late but it was not enough to over the deficit.
