WOOSTER, Ohio - A pair of juniors led the Allegheny men's and women's cross country teams at the unscored Wooster Twilight 5K Challenge on Friday evening.
Ben Evans placed fourth to lead a contingent of three Gator men in the top 10, while classmate 
Laura Cooper placed 12th to lead the Gator women.
Evans covered the 5-kilometer course in 16:06 to take fourth, 18 seconds behind individual champ Jacob Denbeaux of Wooster.  
Sophomore 
Louis McUmber was the Gators' second man, placing eighth with a time of 16:30.4, three seconds and two places ahead of third-year 
Caleb Enis (16:33).  Allegheny had a total of six runners in the top-14, as spots 12 through 14 were manned by Gator freshmen.  
Christian Geer placed 12th with a time of 16:36, Ben Slack-Foust 13th in 16:38, and Gabe Herbst 14th in 16:46.   
Rounding out the Gator competitors, senior 
Caleb Byron turned in a time of 17:09 to finish 25th, one place in front of classmate 
John Dzurica (17:11).  
Hector Ibarra placed 30th (17:24), 
Luke Kellett 32nd (17:35), and 
Noah Spiro 36th (17:45).  A total of 50 runners from five schools took part in the men's race.
In the women's race, Cooper covered the 5K course in 19:37 to place 12th in the 60-runner field.  Freshman 
Jacelyn Alberts was a second Gator to sit in the top-20, taking 20th in 19:59, while 
Katelynn Frawley ran 20:34 to take 34th, and rookie 
Joy Brown 38th in 21:13.
The Gators will now prep for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 12 at Hope College in Holland, Mich.  The top two teams in both the men's and women's races will earn automatic berths into the NCAA Division III National Championship.
