Story written by Thomas Manning '16ResultsHILTON HEAD, S.C. -- The Allegheny women's tennis team kicked off the team's annual spring break trip with a strong, 9-0 win over the Lions of Albright College.
In doubles, the Gators were led by the second-flight pairing of juniors
Andrea Brush and
Mikaela Pope, who posted a decisive, 8-1 win to be the first team off the court. Following shortly after, junior
Kirstie Oravec and sophomore
Michaela Thompson won their match 8-3 at the third doubles position. The top-flight doubles team of juniors
Sun Mo Koo and
Sloane Prince won in dramatic fashion by a final score of 8-6.
The women carried their momentum from doubles into singles, winning all six singles matches in straight sets. Brush was the first Gator off the court with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the fourth-flight position.
Prince, Thompson, and Oravec only lost one game each at their respective positions. At the top-flight singles position, Koo won by a convincing 6-1, 6-1 score. Pope finished off the sweep with a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 2 position.
The Gators will continue their spring break trip tomorrow morning against the Eagles of Edgewood College. The match is set to begin at 8:00 a.m. at Van der Meer Tennis Center.
