Baldwin Wallace Results l Edinboro Results

MEADVILLE, Pa.
– Senior Laura Steele, sophomore Sun Mo Koo and freshman Haley Meekhof posted identical 4-0 records in combined singles and doubles events to help lead the Allegheny women's tennis program to its first Nancy J. Heath Tournament title since 2007.  The Gators defeated Baldwin Wallace, 9-0, in the first round before upending Division II opponent Edinboro, 6-3, for the championship.

"I was very proud of our women today," commented head coach Jared Luteran.  "We have some injured players out of the line up and today just shows how much depth we have on our team. It is always nice to beat a solid team like Baldwin Wallace and a good division II school like Edinboro."

The Gators dominated doubles against Baldwin Wallace, as the top-flight pair of sophomores Sloane Prince and Andrea Brush won their match, 8-3.  Freshman Haley Meekhoff paired with Koo to pick up an 8-1 win in second-flight doubles, while sophomore Tiffany Kollah and Steele swept their match, 8-0, in No. 3 doubles.

Kollah controlled the pace of her top-flight singles match, winning 6-2, 6-0.  Koo picked up a 6-1, 6-4 victory in second-flight doubles while Brush won her No. 3 singles match, 6-0, 6-3.  Meekhof picked up a 6-1, 6-0 decision in No. 4 singles, as Steele's 6-3, 6-1 victory and sophomore Kirstie Oravec's 6-2, 6-1 decision in No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, sealed the sweep for the Gators.

Against the Fighting Scots, Meekhof and Koo opened the scoring for the Gators with a dominating 8-0 win in second-flight doubles.  After an8-4 win in No. 3 doubles by Kollah and Steele put the Gators up, Koo, Brush, Meekhof and Steele put the finishing touches on the tournament title with singles victories.  Brush came back from a one-set deficit in her No. 3 singles match, winning a 10-4 tie-breaker set.

The women will look to continue the momentum from their tournament win on Sept. 13 at the two-day Oberlin Invitational.
