Box Score Box Score

BUFFALO, N.Y. –
Sophomore Krysten Opsatnik slotted home her first career goal in the 69th minute to help Allegheny salvage a 1-1 tie against Buffalo State at Coyer Field on Tuesday.

The Gators dominated the second half, and despite finishing with a 15-6 shot advantage, the team was unable to manufacture the go-ahead goal. Allegheny (4-5-1) was whistled offsides seven times during the tilt, while generating five corner kicks during the second frame.

In the 109th minute, senior Katrina Gazsi missed wide on a chance that would have given a victory to the Gators, while fellow fourth-year standout Ashley Lehr sailed a shot wide of the net just two minutes prior. Allegheny outshot Buffalo State, 3-0, in the second overtime period, while the Bengals totaled just one shot over the final 68 minutes.

With two minutes remaining in the first half, Buffalo State moved in front after capitalizing on an ill-timed miscue in the box. Converting on the turnover, Kristin Seiferth buried her first goal of the season to give the Bengals a 1-0 cushion at the break.

Midway through the second half, Chyna Strickland triggered the equalizer on a long through ball to the right side. Opsatnik made a nice run to corral the feed before directing the ball into the back of the net.

The Gators controlled all of the action after the initial re-start, but ultimately settled for a level finish in their first-ever meeting against Buffalo State.
