OBERLIN, Ohio –
Bobby Over conceded the top overall spot at Saturday's highly-competitive Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin, but Allegheny's standout harrier still managed to make history as he obliterated the College's 8k cross country record. Leading the nationally-ranked No. 20 Gators to a third-place finish, Over finished second in the individual standings after authoring a dazzling time of 23:48.

The reigning NCAA Mid-East Region Runner of the Year and NCAA All-American was outstanding as he pieced together his most impressive career run. Taking advantage of an ultra-fast course and a field loaded with fantastic competition, Over averaged 2:58 over each 1,000 meters in out-dueling a number of All-American performers.

Nationally-ranked No. 5 Geneseo State took the team title with 38 points, while No. 17 NYU finished in second. Allegheny, No. 16 Carnegie Mellon and No. 23 Wabash rounded out the top five on the team board.

In addition to Over, freshman Logan Steiner was also sensational. Breaking through the chute in 24:38, Steiner was the top rookie in the race while orchestrating the fastest 8k by a freshman in Allegheny long and distinguished history on the hills.

Finishing 14th overall, Steiner pulled away from teammates James Rynes and Kevin Edwards while nearly missing out on a place among the top 10. Rynes, who continues to make stunning strides in his sophomore campaign, finished in 25:02. Edwards, who earned All-Region plaudits last season, closed in 25:08.

Senior Brennan Hamilton capped the Gators' scoring after completing the 8k circuit in a career-best 25:37. Allegheny's entire contingent came ready to run, and the performance resulted in lifetime bests nearly across the board. Jack Denison broke the 26-minute barrier for the first time (25:57), while Alex Simon (26:12), Lance Claflin (26:26) and Evan Breitsch (26:39) all enjoyed career days.
