Men's Golf Places Third at Nye Intercollegiate

WOOSTER, Ohio --
The Allegheny College men's golf team wrapped up the Nye Intercollegiate at the Wooster Country Club on Monday afternoon with a third-place finish and two individuals in the top five.

The Gators were tied for second place with Marietta College following Sunday's round. Allegheny and the Pioneers both posted team scores of 314 (+26). However, the hosts of the College of Wooster leapfrogged both teams over the final 18 holes and beat the third-place Gators by just two strokes, 623-to-625. Otterbein University won the tournament by 14 strokes with a cumulative 609 (+33).

Senior Dylan Kochis (Saint Augustine, Fla./B. Reed Henderson (Pa.)) and sophomore Mekayl Maajid (Lahore, Pakistan/Roots Ivy International) both placed inside the top five out of 55 total competitors. Kochis carded a 76 (+4) on Sunday and Monday and finished in sole possession of fourth place with a 152 (+8). He was just two strokes shy of the individual medalist, Ian Morgan of Otterbein. Maajid cut three strokes off his first-round score with a 75 (+3) on Monday. As a result, he tied for fifth place with three other golfers with a cumulative 153 (+9).

The Nye Intercollegiate served as the last tune-up before the second half of the 2025-26 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships. The third round will be held on Friday, April 24, at Mill Creek Golf Course's South Course in Boardman, Ohio.

The Gators (600, +24) finished the fall rounds with a nine-stroke lead over Washington and Jefferson College (609, +33). Christopher Hoffman (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) is Allegheny's leading individual in second place with a 145 (+1), six shots behind Grove City College's Luke Gronbeck (139, -5).
