TRAFFORD, Pa. -- Following Tuesday's victory at Saint Francis University's Red Wolves Invitational at Sunnehanna Country Club, the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) honored the Allegheny College men's golf team with two weekly awards.
Junior
Mekayl Maajid (Lahore, Pakistan/Roots Ivy International) was named the PAC Men's Golf Player of the Week and freshman
Caleb Occhino (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) earned his third Newcomer of the Week award.
Maajid paced the Gators at Sunnehanna and finished as the runner-up with a cumulative 149 (+9). He carded three birdies on Monday en route to a first-round 71 (+1), placing him atop the standings. Maajid added two more birdies on Tuesday, but fell into second place with a 78 (+8).
Occhino was Allegheny's third-best finisher, tying for 11th place with a 154 (+14). He fired consecutive rounds of 77 (+7), including two birdies on the par-3 10th and 14th holes in the first round. Occhino was the highest-placing freshman at the tournament.
Maajid and Occhino will lead the Gators into the fall portion of the 2026-27 PAC Championships on Monday, October 12, and Tuesday, October 13, at Avalon Lakes Golf and Country Club in Warren, Ohio.
